About Mâmawihitowin
On July 26, Lac Ste. Anne Métis Community Association (LSAMCA) will host our second annual cultural event, Mâmawihitowin. In our Cree language, Mâmawihitowin means “a gathering of people” or “a bringing together of camps.” This event aims to showcase our diverse and vibrant culture, including unique traditions, music, dance, and artistic talents. At this public gathering, attendees will have opportunities to engage in intercultural exchange and deepen their understanding of the distinct heritage and contributions of the Lac Ste. Anne Métis to contemporary Alberta society.
What to expect
Mâmawihitowin is a celebration of culture, artistic expression, and community connection.
Attendees can enjoy live performances by acclaimed Indigenous artists, explore a curated artisan market featuring Indigenous makers, and experience demonstrations rooted in cultural tradition.
The free event is designed to be inclusive and family-friendly, with children’s activities throughout the afternoon and a variety of food vendors on site. Whether you come for the music, the stories, the art, or the connections, we promise that you’ll leave with something meaningful.
