Lac Ste. Anne Métis Community Association’s third annual Mâmawitowin Summer Gathering returns to Heritage Park in Stony Plain, AB on Saturday, July 25 from 11:00 am – 8:00 pm. Mâmawitowin, a Cree term meaning a gathering of peoples, celebrates the rich history, heritage, and contributions of the Lac Ste. Anne Métis community.

Mâmawitowin 2026 is shaping up to be our best event yet!

FREE FOR ALL AGES: Family-friendly daytime activities geared towards cross-cultural engagement, learning and fun, and with music and dance performances extending into early evening.

ARTS & CULTURE: Performances by over a dozen First Nation, Métis, and Inuit performers and artists and featuring multi-award winning Juno artist Susan Aglukark.

ARTISAN MARKET: First Nation, Métis, and Inuit vendors.

We’ve brought together an array of talented crafters and makers who will be selling their handiwork and creations. From intricately beaded jewelry and textiles to natural wellness products, the artisan market is more than just a shopping experience; it's a chance to connect directly with authentic, local craftspeople and learn about their artistic practices.

Horses in the Past & Today – Horseback Rides!

Our knowledge holders are ready to share the art of backcountry packing—come and watch these masters secure gear with great care and precision, ensuring both balance and safety for those long, extended journeys. Discover how to prioritize the well-being of your horse while preparing for life on the trail. Then, take the reins yourself and enjoy a short, guided horseback ride through the event grounds, getting a feel for the timeless connection between rider and horse.

Stop by and learn more about the history and present of the Lac Ste. Anne Métis Community Association (LSAMCA), the representative organization for the Lac Ste. Anne Métis. Our community maintains deep connections to the landscape we have called home for more than two centuries. Our members reside in locations corresponding with lands and waters our Ancestors have used and occupied over many generations. As a kinship-based community, we participate in a shared culture inclusive of our distinctive customs and traditions.
