Mâmawihitowin
Summer Gathering

About Mâmawihitowin
On July 20, 2024, Lac Ste. Anne Métis Community Association (LSAMCA) will be hosting its first public cultural event, Mâmawihitowin. In Cree, Mâmawihitowin means “a gathering of people” or “a bringing together of camps.” This event aims to showcase the diverse and vibrant culture of the Lac Ste. Anne Métis people, highlighting our unique traditions, music, dance, and visual arts. This inaugural public gathering provides an opportunity for engaging in intercultural exchange and fostering a deeper understanding of the distinct heritage and contributions of the Lac Ste. Anne Métis to contemporary Alberta society.
The Event
Join us in celebrating the rich heritage and artistic expressions associated with the Lac Ste. Anne Métis. Mâmawihitowin features performances by talented artists, exhibitions of traditional art forms, and interactive sessions where attendees can observe and/or engage directly with Lac Ste. Anne Métis cultural skills and arts such as horseback riding, fish scale art, and jigging.
